No School Friday!

Just a reminder that we do not have school this Friday. Enjoy your long weekend!

March 23rd-26th

Reading: In reading this week we have been practicing the igh and ight patterns. We have also been reviewing parts of stories.
Writing: In writing we are continuing to use temporal words in our writing. We're doing great!
Math: In math this week we've been playing a bunch of fun games! We are playing games that help us learn how to compare two digit numbers, use doubles and make a ten to solve big addition and subtraction equations. Because we've been taking a small break from our workbook, we haven't been having math homework.
Social Studies: In Social Studies we are finishing up our discussion on American Symbols and discussing features of a map.
Science: In Science we are finishing up our discussion on how vibrating objects produce sound.

In Need...

Our classroom is in need of 3 Frisbee's. We will be trying out stability balls in our guided reading centers this week. My hope is that the stability balls will offer the opportunity to wiggle and "be a child" while still focusing on lessons and learning. Many studies have been done to show that movement improves learning. The Frisbee's will be used to hold the balls in place and keep them from rolling around on the floor when we're not using them. Please consider donating 1, 2 or 3 Frisbee's to our classroom. We appreciate your support! Thank you!

PTO Meeting

There will be a PTO meeting tomorrow night (March 10th) in the Riverview Library. Please remember our classroom receives $10 each time you attend a meeting. Thank you to all who have contributed this year!

March 9th-13th

Reading: This week we are working on the word patterns: ar, or, ir. We will continue to build stamina in read to someone and also discuss common and proper nouns.
Writing: In writing we continue to discuss narratives. We are currently working on having a beginning, middle and end in our writing.
Math: We will be learning to subtract teen numbers this week. We will do this by practicing several "make a ten" strategies. *If you're wondering what a "make a ten" strategy is, ask your child to explain their purple flashcards to you.
Science: In science we will finish up our beak experiment that helps us understand the growth and needs of plants and animals.
Social Studies: This week we will dive in to American Symbols.
