April 1st-4th

Reading: In reading we will be reviewing main idea/detail. We will also be discussing print types, photographs and other non-fiction text features.

Writing: This week in writing, we will be learning how to revise.

Math: We will continue our unit on data. This week we will be looking at up to 3 groups of data.

Social Studies: We will be discussing American Symbols this week.

On April 25th we will be having Caps for the Cure day. Below are details.

The Parkside Student Council is doing the Caps for the Cure fundraiser again this year.  All proceeds to go the UW Madison's Children's Hospital for cancer research.  Students/staff can wear a hat for $1.00.

This past week we enjoyed a health lesson and a healthy snack! Almost every student in our class tried hummus. We loved it!

March 17th-21st

Reading: We are learning how to find the main idea and details in a story.
*Ask your child to tell you the main idea and details in the story they read you at home.

Writing: We will continue talking about temporal words. This week we will learn how to add words like first, next, then, and last to our writing.

Math: We are learning about adding and subtracting multiples of 10.

Science/SS: We are finishing up our heat and light activities.
*Ask your child to tell you the difference between heat and light.

We did a WONDERFUL job performing at our spring play. Below you will find pictures. Enjoy!

In math we practiced sorting into groups of ten. This made counting go faster!

Here we are observing our science experiment. We have been talking about the effects of heat and light.

March 10th-14th

This week we will be participating in the kindergarten/first grade spring play! We will be performing twice: Wednesday, March 12th and Thursday, March 13th at 9:30. We hope you can make it! For the play, please have your child dress in jeans and tennis shoes.  

Reading: In reading this week we will continue to talk about nouns and vowel sounds. 

Writing: In writing we will be talking about temporal words. 

Math: In math we will be discussing story problems that have a partner or total unknown. 

Social Studies/Science: In Social Studies we will start talking about American Symbols.

**Book orders are due this Friday-March 14th. Take advantage of earning a free book!

We listened to a Dr. Seuss story in both Spanish and English. We loved it!
